Home, sweet home.

Yeehaw! You wouldn’t believe how cool World of Warcraft looks now with my new iMac ^_^ It looks soooo awesome!!

It’s incredible. For the first time ever I see effects underwater, I see what really happens when you get drunk, all spells look very cool, I can also see from very far without lagging a bit ^_^ Here is the current configuration I got

092606-03

And even with all (or almost all on high) it’s like I never lag at all, I can load in and out very fast, I can go out of instances and load like flash: I will never ever appear dead after zoning out of an instance (and getting killed by horde while still loading, hhhahahahahaha).

You see, this is thrilling: I’ve used Macs for my entire life, and I have been “forced” to be on the dark side just because the PC I had was newer than my latest Mac, but I had to play with all effects down to increase performance and not lag. It’s über to be able to play on a Mac again ^_^ Somehow I was almost sure that I took some screenshots of my rogue in a Molten Core PuG, but no clue where they are :(

Back to game info, this happened a couple of days ago

[item]Kalimdor’s Revenge[/item] — Emperor Vek’nilash
[item]Ring of Emperor Vek’lor[/item] — Emperor Vek’lor
[item]Vek’lor’s Diadem[/item] — Emperor Vek’lor
[item]Vek’nilash’s Circlet[/item] — Emperor Vek’nilash

If I’m not wrong Ashryn won [item]Kalimdor’s Revenge[/item], while my very cool friend Fres managed to get his [item]Blessed Qiraji Acolyte Staff[/item] ^_^ We couldn’t get attempts on C’Thun last week :(

The Burning Crusade… so many things to say. Ok, Druid stuff came out yesterday, and after seeing the talents (to tell the truth I only saw Restoration talents) I might end up with this spec (4/0/57) for the expansion. There was an interview a while ago with someone in Blizzard and it seems that they may be thinking in digital distribution for The Burning Crusade. In my opinion that would rock, considering that I don’t live in the United States, which would make getting The Burning Crusade much easier for me. Also, it would mean more income to Blizzard because they wouldn’t have to worry about printing boxes and stuff like that, and there would be less chances of getting “out of stock”.

Is TBC going to be available via digital distribution as well as traditional retail?

Frank Pearce: That’s a really good question. Actually, it’s something we’re talking about. The retailers, and our relationship with traditional retailers, is something that’s really important to us. We are doing digital distribution of the original client in North America, and it’s something we’re talking about for Europe. But no final plans there yet. It’s something we’re talking about, but no final plans for The Burning Crusade.

Lets see how that goes. Going back to the official information regarding druids in TBC, as for now I pretend staying as a healer, since I enjoy it. Keep in mind, tho, that instance caps will be reduced to 25 (from 40), so probably raids will be specifically made of certain classes with certain abilities, so I don’t really know what will happen.

Before I end, about my healing aggro, I’m beginning to think that it may not be really my fault… and I’m getting tired of being used as an excuse when bad things happen.

Last week we couldn’t 1-shot the Twin Emperors, it took us a couple of attempts. The one I was assigned to heal was Papajohn (which was on the right side), and even tho he took over almost 100k more damage than Ryan, which was tanking on the left side, he only died when we wiped (and not during the fight). On the attempts I was called out because, for some reason, I pulled aggro of the caster emperor (?) for a couple of seconds, and the caster was in the other side of the room… c’mon, give me a break: as far as I recall, even tho it’s possible, it’s very rare for that to happen, and also doesn’t the emperors have proximity aggro when they teleport? Keep in mind that I was on the other side of the room. The following is from WoW Wiki:

Twin Teleport - Every 30-40 seconds, the two twins will switch places, visible by a blue glow around their feet. The twins will be rooted for about 2 seconds after they teleport before they start attacking again. There is a complete aggro wipe, and the Emperors will attack the closest player to them, who will receive a large amount of threat after the 2 second root runs out. Check out the part that says “will receive a large amount of threat after the 2 second root runs out.

• Healing the Warrior during Vek’nilash (physical Emperor) time is tricky as he will frequently get hit by a sequence of big blows in very short time. It is neccessary to constantly channel heals, keep HoTs up and shield after Unbalancing Strikes and Uppercuts. 3 Priests chaincasting Heal 2 (augmented by +heal) and constant Renew does most of the work. Paladins/Shamans and Druids are used for the gaps inbetween. Starting to cast when there is already a health deficit (reactive healing)is not sufficient. I was healing on the melee one and the one I “pulled” was the casting one (which was on the other side). What else would I do? Stop healing? You can’t just stop healing during the fight.

• Instead of using warlocks to tank the caster Emperor, a warrior can be used. The warrior should stand close enough after a teleport phase to receive initial aggro, and then move out of melee range to stop Arcane Explosions. By doing so, however, you can only DPS the physical Emperor. This has the extreme disadvantage of the warrior generating very little aggro relative to the healer aggro generated keeping him up from shadowbolts. What can I do about it?

Healers #2 and #3 were also assigned to PJ.

What is annoying me lately is the fact that now I’m used for jokes and comments in the guild about “dying too much” (sometimes I know some people is just messing, but other times I don’t really have patience and/or I’m not in mood, ask my brother Macniatic, lol). As I’ve told a couple of people (people that is actually trying to help me instead of bothering me) is that I never ever had the “aggro” issue before (and I think that even after the patch), I mean, it’s not like I don’t know how to heal or when to heal, and as I’ve mentioned before, I’ve even tweaked my healing style. Meh.

/sigh

Oh, and don’t bitch me unless you know what is going on, It’s very easy to point out names of people, but it’s sad to do it when people doesn’t have a clue of what is happening. As I wrote a while ago, the easiest way on almost all scenes is to blame the healer of doing a bad job.

That’s pretty crappy that your guild is making a joke out of you rather than working to figure out what’s going on.

When you were healing the melee tank, were you healing in a rotation or were you it? That’s the only thing I can think of aside from more threat reduction gear. I’ve never raided Twin Emps so can’t offer more constructive advice, sorry.

It’s not the “guild”, it’s just certain individuals. As for the rotation, nope, healers are assigned to sides (for example, odds left, evens right), and they have to remain there. The tanks on those sides never switch sides, and most of the healing goes to them as well.

Lol. This reminds me of whenever I play my mage, So I kinda know how you feel, some people are always saying “you die too much lol” and stuff like that.

The issue with warrior tanks on twin emperors is that they have an arbitrary threat assigned to them on each teleport (let’s say 2000 threat, equivalent to 5 sunders) and that has to last them approximately 30 seconds. The tank spams battleshout, but that generates a smaller amount of threat.

During the 30 seconds, the tank will be taking appx 3000-4000 shadow damage every 3 seconds. If he eats a bug explosion or gets Arcane explosioned, thats an additional 3000. Every tick of blizzard is even more.

My understanding of healing aggro is that each point of healing aggro is equal to .5 points of threat. Take into account you need to 30% overaggro a tank to pull at range, take into account the ridiculous levels of threat reduction gahlok (and most raiding healers) stack, and they have a HUGE margin of error and should never pull aggro. Not to mention all that healing is distributed across fully half of the raid’s healing on each side.

If a bunch of healers are running to avoid Blizzard or bugs, they’re not healing the tank, and the other healers have to pick up the slack. Given Gahlok’s rate of consumables during that fight, it was safe to assume he was picking up the majority of the slack. That means he was doing a large portion of his side’s healing (which is meant to be shared for threat reasons) and pulled.

It’s not a dig against Gahlok, just an unfortunate side effect of him having a huge amount of healing, and the strategy we’re using.

Dude if I were you, I would just heal less, there are a couple of healers in my guild with the same problem, and they get yelled at and blamed quite a bit for it, so they solved the problem by just cutting down their heals, and letting the other slackers pick it up, that way they can stop making jokes about your healing, and you can see who are the lazy healers in your guild.

    Best of luck!

If you pulled aggro on the twin emps somebody else wasn’t doing there job. Shake it off get ready for C’thun attempts where they will forget all about you.

Turn off vertical sync. Then your FPS can go above 60.

Try Cornpo’s strategy and just moonfire everything instead of healing.
